Our Mission Statement:

The Muskoka Music Men entertain community groups of all ages with their unique a cappella four-part barbershop harmony; promote the educational and community service goals of the Barbershop Harmony Society (as reflected in the Society's motto, "Keep the Whole World Singing") and support the speech impaired and other charitable projects within the community.

The Muskoka Music Men are the Huntsville chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, in the Northern division of the Ontario District.

Now entering our 19th year, we are a small but growing chorus.  We currently have 30 plus members, and generally have at least 25 turn out for each practice.

Our chorus director is Frank Berg.  Frank is a local music teacher, specializing in Music for Young Children.   He has his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Briarcrest College and has sung with the Huntsville Community Choir, the Mistletones mixed quartet and the Nota Bene Chamber Singers.  He has been with the Muskoka Music Men since 1999.

We perform one major show each year, known as "A Night of Harmony".  For the past two years, whe have performed our show at the new Algonquin Theatre, and we are pleased to say that both shows were complete sellouts! Our most recent show featured the Toronto Northern Lights championship chorus, and we look forward to sharing the stage with this year's guest chorus: Lake Country Harmony.  That's right, we are bringing back the ladies!  See our performance schedule for further details.

For the past three years, we heve also performed a Christmas show, "Christmas in Muskoka" which in adition to the Muskoka Music Men has featured the Huntsville High School Choir and the Huntsville Youth Choir.

Around Christmastime we also have a few traditions:  We perform at the Huntsville Hospital tree lighting ceremony; we go carolling at the Huntsville Place Mall and we also go carolling at the Huntsville Hospital and all of the retirement homes in the Huntsville area.

Each year, we offer "singing valentines", where a quartet goes to visit the lucky lady (or gentleman!) to sing a couple of love songs,  deliver a red rose plus other goodies, and capture the moment with a photo!  This year we delivered over 75 valentines!

All of theses activities help us raise funds for the Harmonize for Speech Fund, which supports therapy services, equipment and education to aid the speech impaired.  We believe, as singers, that we can have no finer purpose than to assist the speech impaired, who have difficulty speaking for themselves!
